November 20th, Utrecht. Four trade unions, FNV, FBZ, NU’91, and CNV launched the national campaign to strike over ongoing negotiations with the Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ). Thousands of hospital workers gathered at the Jaarbeursplein where Chairman Ad Melkert of the Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ) received 37.457 signatures demanding a five percent structural wage increase and extra allowance on wages when employees are called to work last-minute. They also demand agreements concerning heavy staff workloads, as well as the retention of employees. While on strike, hospital staff was on hand in case of emergencies, cancer treatments, and operations on children.
