April 13th, Amsterdam. After a social media campaign called 'I Am Priceless' to ban prostitution in The Netherlands. 'Proud Nederland', the Dutch association by and for sex workers demonstrated against this petition, wearing their characteristics red umbrellas, and also holding frames to 'reframing' the profession. PROUD believes that sex work should be seen as a fully-fledged profession. The petition hit 42,000 signatures this week, meaning it's passed the 40,000 mark needed to be debated by politicians. Prostitution has been legal in the country since 2000 but the petition, launched by Christian inspired protest group Exxpose, will now be heard by Dutch parliament.
A statue titled "Belle", honouring the sex workers of the world, was placed in the heart of the Amsterdam Red Light District in 2007.
