Utrecht Central Station was officially reopened on December 7, by Sharon Dijksma Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. The opening puts an end to the work in the hall of the station, which lasted six years. Since the number of passengers and passers by Utrecht Centraal has been growing, tangible improvements have been made. Utrecht Central Station is the busiest station in the Netherlands. On peak days there are 220,000 rail passengers and 60,000 passers-by on the floor. Around 1500 daily trains arrive and depart from the station. During the whole day passengers could enjoy different activities around the new station hall, like the celebration of weddings for a day, live music and short movies with pop corn.
